A rare chance to see the extraordinary work of the celebrated Iranian artist Monir Farmanfarmanian (now in her 90s) takes place at Imma with the opening of a major new retrospective spanning more than six decades.  The first solo exhibition in Ireland of her work, it is called Sunset Sunrise and displays more than 70 works reflecting a life lived between two cultures ranging from painting, sculpture, jewellery and tapestry to collages and previously unseen pen and ink drawings fresh from her studio in Tehran.  Celebrated for her mirrored cut glass mosaic pieces that merge traditional  Persian techniques with contemporary Western abstraction, she was honored in her country last December with the opening of Iran’s first museum dedicated to a solo female artist. “Geometry is at the basis of my art” she has said. Until November 25th. 2018 (with thanks to the Irish Times) www.walkindublin.com
